The Effects of Stochastic Circular Pores on Splitting Tensile Behavior of Concrete Based on the Multifractal Theory

Concrete naturally contains a large number of circular-like stochastic pores which weaken the tensile strength concrete and change crack propagation path. This study investigates influences size distribution spatial on fracture behavior based splitting test. The mesoscale model containing coarse aggregate, mortar, interface transition zone (ITZ), circular is established to simulate initiation, propagation, coalescence concrete. samples with single hole are prepared verify effectiveness numerical simulation method. Numerical tests conducted numerous various porosities, pore distributions, distributions. results indicate that decreases increase at same porosity. Based multifractal theory, quantitative indicator describe uniformity proposed. There positive correlation between strength. can have profound effect concrete’s pattern, in three typical macro-crack patterns presented deepen understanding influence mechanical properties provide reference for design structures.
